Personal output changes the exchange
An activation has to earn attention. A backdrop can be attractive, but it still asks people to create the interesting part themselves. An AI portrait gives them a clearer reason to participate: the finished image will be made around them.
The experience is short enough for an expo stand and substantial enough to feel like more than a giveaway. Guests choose from a controlled style menu, take a portrait and receive a branded output in print, digital form or both.
From campaign idea to portrait style
The strongest activations do not begin with a logo frame. They begin with the campaign idea.
A travel brand might place guests in cinematic destinations. A beauty campaign might explore editorial eras. A technology launch could use speculative worlds that reflect the product story. The brand mark then signs the output instead of carrying the whole concept.
Custom AI style development starts at R750 and is quoted according to complexity, the number of variants and testing required. The process is explained in how an AI photo activation works.
What the activation package includes
- Oak AI portrait booth and studio light
- Delivery, setup and pack-down
- A host throughout the operating window
- Unlimited sessions during booked hours
- Agreed style menu and on-screen wording
- Instant portrait prints where selected
- Digital sharing and gallery delivery
- Pre-event technical and guest-flow planning
For longer programmes, the eight-hour package is R10,500. Shorter two, three and four-hour options are available for launches and focused campaign windows.
Expos and product launches
At an expo, visibility is useful but throughput matters. The booth should sit where people can understand the experience without blocking the aisle. The style choices need to be clear enough to decide quickly, and staff should know what happens if a queue grows.
A launch is different. Traffic may arrive in one concentrated wave, and the output may need to feel more premium than fast. The expo and product launch planning guide explains how to adapt the same booth to both environments.
Printed and digital campaign outputs
A 4x6 portrait print has presence. It remains visible in a guest’s hand and tends to travel around the event before leaving with them. Digital sharing extends the same image into private chats and social posts.
Using both avoids forcing one behaviour. Some guests want the physical piece; others want the fastest route to their phone. The article on branded photo booth prints covers logo size, legibility and why the portrait should stay dominant.
Consent and responsible use
The organiser should be clear about what information is collected, how images are delivered and whether campaign follow-up is optional. Consent language should be proportionate and understandable at the point of participation.
AI Booth does not recommend hiding marketing consent inside the basic act of receiving a portrait. If lead capture is part of the brief, it should be clearly separated and agreed. Read the AI activation privacy and consent guide for planning questions to raise with your legal or data team.
Gauteng activations and selected travel
Johannesburg, Sandton and Midrand are regular activation routes. Events elsewhere in Gauteng are quoted by distance, while larger campaigns outside the province can be discussed where the schedule and logistics make sense.
Send the venue, event date, operating hours, expected traffic and campaign objective. A useful first brief can be one page. The creative and technical detail can follow once availability and format are confirmed.
